Cab driver returns wallet stuffed with money

A cabbie who says his mother believed in being honest and taught him the same returned a wallet containing $5,950 to the owner. The driver moved to the United States from India in 1984, according to an Associated Press story on MSNBC.com.

The driver said there was never any question of him keeping the money. “If money doesn’t belong to me, I don’t keep it,” said Vinod Mago, who drives for the Seattle-Tacoma International Taxi Association.

Mago had just started his shift when a man called his coordinator to say he was missing his wallet. The driver immediately pulled over and found the wallet stuffed with money near the rear passenger door. Mago then hurried to the airport to return it to its owner.

The coordinator said the man who lost the wallet said that it contained his life savings, and he was planning on buying a car with it.
