Time On Your Hands

February 9, 2009

“Time is usually wasted in the same way every day.” – Unknown.

Look at your day. How do you spend it? What ruts have you gotten
yourself into that you could easily break yourself out of? What
poor habits are eating valuable minutes of your life every day?

What impact can a few minutes make? Take a look at this.

What if you were able to save …

Five minutes by streamlining your morning routine (taking less time
to dress, shave, put on makeup, drink coffee, read the paper, and
so on)?

Ten minutes by eliminating the things you do each morning to stall
starting your work?

Five minutes by avoiding idle talkers or other distractions?

Ten minutes by taking a shorter lunch or break time?

Those minutes don’t seem like much. But if you did those things
every day, five days a week, for fifty weeks, you could gain an
additional 125 hours of time every year. (That’s the equivalent of
more then three forty-hour weeks to use for anything you want!)
And if you’re a television watcher, you can double the time you
gain each year if you simply watch thirty fewer minutes of
television every day.

This is so true, especially about the TV-watching… Ever since I cut my TV watching to a minimum, I have noticed that I have so much more time that I can use for productive endeavors, like building my online business.

Very good article.

I totally agree with you on how much time is wasted…
I’ve noticed if I walk away from what ever I’m working on I get distracted so easy…
I’m going to put your time on your hands a try…
Thanks
Patricia

I totally agree I sometimes find myself wondering where the time has gone then I look back and know throughout the day how much was wasted, so I get it completely

Isn’t that the definition of Attention Deficit Disorder? The inability to filter distractions? Paying more attention to priorities and less to paths of least resistance is the 900 pound gorilla for most of us.

You make some valid points, but always remember

“Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.”
