Little League Baseball

March 1, 2009

Here in this part of the world, youth baseball is gearing up. We actually don’t play Little League sanctioned baseball here, but a more real and open baseball model, more closely resembling the rules of the older guys. And my youngest of 5 kids, just about to turn 7, is starting his first season of Coach Pitch.

A side note from Mrs. Carr — the 7 year olds are so cute in their little uniforms.

I’m not coaching the younger guy, as many of you know, I coach my 2 older boys, an assistant coach on the High School varsity team.

Although, my favorite season of coaching, favorite age group, is the 7 and 8 year old Coach Pitch. If you’ve never seen this age of baseball, it is mostly offense, high energy, excitement, lot’s of runs scored. In fact, all of my years of coaching, and there are many, the batting lineup for this age group is most important. If you get it right, with a focus on maximum productivity for every inning, and then add some basic fundamental defense, you’ll win almost every game.

My first go around with this age group, our team was just average, and maybe won half of it’s games. Then I got smart, used stats as my guide, and those stats helped maximize our productivity.

You see, most youth sports are coached with an eye towards favorites, most popular, and the coolest kids. The fact is favorites, popularity, and coolness aren’t synonyms for best, productivity, and results.

You know where I’m heading with this, right?

1st and 2nd Join Sections within your TrafficHoopla list the current top ranked manual Hit Exchanges. The 3rd Join Section includes the top ranked Safelist. The Hoopla! Rankings are updated weekly from the Hit Exchange and Safelist Reports.

Last week’s Hit Exchange Report, updated every Tuesday, collected and analyzed 1063381 hits (yes, that’s over 1 million hits), from 2114 sites, and tracked 7610 conversions.

The overall rankings are determined by a composite score and based on the following equally weighed components.

Raw Hits + Primary Conversion + Secondary Conversion + Bounce Rate + New Visitors + Unique Hits + Unique Percentage.

Our testing is 100% Independent, based solely on statistical data that can be measured and verified.

Sorry, we do not take votes, surveys, or opinion polls here.  And no, there is no conflict of interest here, we don’t own or joint venture with any Hit Exchanges or Safelist.  Period.

How can we best help you?

Although hunches, feelings and our favorite will work some of the time if you want consistent results with your business you have to look at the numbers. I have been surprised by what performs the best more times then I want to remember.

Thanks for posting this it is great information and food for thought.

Hi Bill,
Peter Donelan from Australia here. I am sorry I can’t share any knowledge about softball , Out here we are just getting into our football season. I follow Rugby union. As opposed to rugby League;
The main difference is Union play 15 a side while League play 12 a side.
Both play it hard and solid, however as is, the case mostly with body contact sport, it has become much softer now than say 40 years ago.
WHEN MEN DID PLAY THE GAME. One can never go back in time however it would be interesting to see how men of 40 years ago would play thye game to day!!!
Have a great day Bill
Cheers,
Peter Donelan

Hi Bill,
Read your email on baseball. My husband was a very active coach starting at that age level and went up the ranks to High School and American Legion Coach. He is a big baseball fan and his team is the Yankees. Unfortunately due to a “bad hip” he can not coach any longer…actively on the field, but he sure coaches from the sidelines. I know exactly where you were going with your comparison. We all need to be consistant and focused at any age.
whether it be baseball or business.
Thanks for your comments. I do enjoy them and also Traffic Hoopla.
Enjoy your day as I hope to enjoy mine and put myself out there.
