Lemonade VS Girl Scout Cookies

February 26, 2009

When I was a kid, I set up a lemonade stand, and sold lemonade in front of my house, and I didn’t sell much. The problem was that we lived on a quiet street, near the end, and almost no one drove by our house.

Sure, there were a few neighbors and relatives who were kind, but overall, not much.

My sister, on the other hand, sold girl scout cookies, and she was a lot smarter than me. She arranged with the local grocery store manager to be allowed to sell cookies at the front door. I remember as if it was yesterday, she sold all the cookies within a few hours, and came home bragging.

No, I didn’t go and join the girl scouts, but I did give up lemonade. Seriously, the point isn’t cookies verse lemonade, but location, activity, results.

We all here are in the advertising/selling business. Whatever you biz is, you want as many people to see your product or service, and respond.

In this online-traffic-exchange-advertising-world, I’m looking for the big dogs, those capturing a crowd, those producing results. The problem is all the hype, hoopla, and anecdotes raging wild.

Those who say they are the best, aren’t really. Those claim to be the biggest, maybe, but activity doesn’t prove it. And when the “good Ole’ boy” get to the airwaves, you really don’t know if it’s something good, or just another launch by someone in the club.

This week, the Hit Exchange Report ( aka – Hoopla! Rankings) was updated on Tuesday, as it is every week, and this particular testing reported collected and analyzed 1063381 hits. Yes, that’s over ONE MILLION HITS.

A little more …

We collected and analyzed 1063381 hits, from 2114 sites, and tracked 7610 conversions. Only those with conversions (results) are ranked, hit exchanges or safelist, period.

A composite score determines rankings, and based on the following equally weighed components.

Raw Hits + Primary Conversion + Secondary Conversion + Bounce Rate + New Visitors + Unique Hits + Unique Percentage.

In addition, we take note, and penalize, large and unusual sitting balances (credits that don’t move).

Where do I want to advertise my business? I want to advertise wherever the crowd is, activity, and conversions. PERIOD.

Have you noticed the competition of late from new exchanges. Most fail, but there are a few who are capturing gathering a crowd, and generating plenty of conversions. Have you joined HitsBoosterPro? GradeATraffic? TrafficWitch? MajorLeagueHits? TopTierTraffic? These are just a few examples, new exchanges, lots of activity plus conversions.

Note: Hoopla! Pro members have access to the full weekly Hit Exchange Report (every Tuesday) and Safelist Report (Thursdays). This week’s Hit Exchange Report includes a CAUTION regarding a recently new hit exchange.
